geez don't go to msconfig unless you know what you are doing. get to know task mgr and shut off anything your not useing if you find your anti virus etc running in the background

windows internet explorer and windows explorer are big pigs on memory. go to answersthatwork.com tasklist for a listing of processes in task mgr
try msconfig for startups.

click start, click run, type msconfig, press enter, click startup, uncheck programs you don't want starting up.

if its still not fast enough, try defragmenting your hard drive, and buying hardware like more ram.
